i am not a doctor! all i can say is if you have noticed it - consult one - my co-worker noticed she was clearing her throat all the time and it turned out she had acid relux. apparently the acid will tickle your throat and make you feel like you have to clear it. she's now on nexium which helps.

If a 3 year old (or actually anyone) has a urine infection for 2 weeks then they can get a kidney infection - this is very serious. So don't try to get an appointment, just do it. The practice nurse or health visitor can be a big help if there is a problem getting to see a Dr, but you will have to tell them you have left it for 2 weeks and that she is hot - so they understand why it can't wait. Meantime clean out a potty really well and collect some pee in a clean container though they may ask for some more when you get there. Then they can get it tested easily. If the skin is sore vaseline can be an irritant for some kids. Its main value is as a barrier cream (it stops pee etc from touching the skin) - rather than as a soothing cream. I used to swear by a marigold based cream, but they may not make it now. Your chemist can advise on creams that soothe - possibly sudocreme etc. Also a nice warm (not hot) bath with some salt dissolved in it (cool the bath off after you add the salt and check the water is ok before you sit her down in it) no soap and dry by patting gently with a soft towel. This works wonders. Cranberry juice is fabulous too.

It could possibly be an allergy symptom. It often happens to me and I mentioned it to my allergy specialist and he has me taking Flonase it seems to help. Another problem I had for years it seemed was as if I had a stuffed nose, after I got the nasal spray it cleared within a few days, and the clearing of the throat stopped as well. A lot of people have allergies and aren't even aware of it, so go get yourself checked out.

A diary, wheat or orange juice allergy. Quite alot more common than many people think. You can get tested for food allergys but its probably quicker and cheaper to eleminate diary from your diet for a month, see what happens, then try wheat etc. (or anything else you suspect.)
If your sensitive to something then stop consuming it.
It maybe a chemical reaction too, so consider what new cleaners or room sprays or furniture etc that came into your life at the time the symptons began.

I had that problem too. It could be too much calcium. Try giving up milk and calcium supplements for a while and see what happens.

Or it could be post nasal drip. In that case I believe you are better off clearing your throat than taking something to dry out your nasal passages.

This happens with many people...so don't worry it is common...a friend of mind will drive you nuts after she eats with "uughhh" loudly to clear her throat...I think it has something to do with...nevermind, I have no idea why it does that...anyway, I don't think there is any way to get rid of it but it seems to lessen for her if she drinks plenty of water after she eats...we need more water anyway, so it couldn't hurt ya to try...right?

This is one of the first sign of having a food allergy. Mainly, dairy's or wheat allergies. Have your doctor do some food allergy testing. Good luck!

Nothing seems to be wrong. It is just a force of habit that you are doing it.
