Well you can endure the expense to hire a designer, they range anywhere from $1,000 to 5,000 for one room in my area. Or you could do it yourself. www.hgtv.com has all kinds of ideas, or www.bhg.com has more too. When looking through sales papers or online save pictures of things you want for your room. If something catches your eye, save it and name the picture what you like about that room. After a few weeks of collecting pictures, colors, ideas, etc. Look them all over as a whole and weed out anything you don't want to help minimize your choices. Very simple things can change the look of a room, or you can go for a total transformation and redo it from floor to ceiling. That depends on your budget.
If you go the route of a designer I would highly recommend reading up on "how to hire a designer" and the questions that you need to ask. There are many makeover and remodel blogs and websites out there. Be sure you know everything about what you're getting into before you take the next step.
Best of luck to you and Happy Holidays!

Do it yourself, It's easy, just decide what you like and put it together. Something simple like changing the flooring and lighting, will make a big difference. Also try to change the window treatments.

Add details about your room and you can get plenty of suggestions here. But you must describe what you have colors, furniture wall colors. Furniture and what you think you want.
