Just because I don't believe in YOUR God doesn't mean I'm atheist. I'm agnostic, meaning I don't know what to believe, but I'm open to evidence. Is "atheism" easier to dismiss, since not believing is just as ignorant as believing is? Have you ever heard of a "straw man fallacy?"

I guess I have to clarify: non-"accepted"-monotheists, accepted monotheistic religions including Judiasm and Islam.

They saw it on Fox News, the same place that tells them that they're an oppressed minority, threatened by rampant secularism and that atheists are demanding that we say "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" and that we're suing to take away their rights.

However, I think that the "atheism/agnosticism" distinction is just plain silly. I'm an atheist: I do not believe in any gods (or anything else supernatural). Gods have the same evidential status as flying lime-green elephants, and I don't believe that they exist either. I do believe that I could someday turn out to be wrong about either of those things - does that mean that I should say "I don't know whether or not there are flying lime-green elephants"? That's just plain silly. They don't exist, and neither do gods.

Unless you're willing to say "I don't know whether or not there are flying lime-green elephants", saying you're an agnostic rather than an atheist just seems silly.

I don't think that as a rule, christians believe that all non-christians are atheists. I mean, that would mean no other religion could exist. Most facets of christianity teach their followers to tolerate other beliefs. Do you think that most christians think jews are atheists? I happen to be an atheist, so I don't care. But, either way, I'm not sure that original statement was true.

We don't. we accept that "God" has spoken to many people. Culture affects how we see the "God". I believe that all Gods are the same and all religions are right. SOME Christians are like how you say but few are.

Why do MOST non-Christians always lump all Christians into a group when accusing them of things? I'm a Christian and I know for a fact that not all non-Christians are atheists. Not all of my friends are Christians and the majority of those non-Christians are not atheists either.

I agree with Father K. I am a Christian also and I would not say you are an atheist. I think you need to be a little more careful with your generalities. I am yet to meet a Christian who says all nons are atheist.

Huh? That's just silly.

1) I am, take my word for it, a Christian

2) My neighbor is a Jew. He is a "non-Christian" by definition.

3) He believes in God...he is no atheist.

Ergo: Your premise is ridiculous.

Christians is the name given to people whom believe in "GOD and atheists is the name given to people whom do not believe in "GOD" so you define your belief or none belief in one simple word" in-sated of a long explanation"!
