I've been experiencing some unexplained brusing on the lower part of my legs, near my calves. It's not a large spot like most bruises appear, but it's a cluster of smaller ones, I think. I think I mean to say that it's not solid all the way through but lighter bruising. At any rate, it worries the heck outta me, and though I'm somewhat of a hypochondriac, this does seem a bit odd. Does anyone have any idea what this could mean? Not looking for a medical diagonsis, just some opinions or advice.

Btw, I'm a 28yr old woman, in relatively good shape, no children, don't work out but am active, 5'9, 137lbs, so body weight to height is normal I think, and I do take a multi vitamin, plus calcium and B1. And I have recently started taking antibiotics for a gum infection, but saw bruising before starting these. Sorry for so much info just wanna clear the coulds and could nots. Thanks in advance.

I've been having lots of bruising around my calves, too. I thought it was because I carry my daughter in her carseat a lot (it bumps my calves) but I'm interested in hearing the answers to your question, too, because I find it a little weird. Do you notice it after carrying bags of groceries? Those can hang around your calves and the eges of boxes and cans might bump you.

I know liver damage can cause you to bruise more easily, as can having too much steroids in your system (I mean, your natural cortisol, not fake ones!). Maybe you could try to up your intake of Vitamin K (that helps you clot, as well). I'd suggest going to the doctor to have some liver tests or PT and PTT tests (clotting tests). I would if I could afford it, for sure!

If you share a bed with someone, is it possible that they're kicking you in their sleep? I know it sounds silly, but that did happen to me in the past.

Having the bruises specifically on your calves could mean a blood clot. If it's not the above situation, I would suggest seeing a doctor, just to be on the safe side.

I gad that happen to my foot once. eventually i found out it was because my bed is too short and sometimes while i was asleep i would flail my foot around and hit my bed post.
Your problem could be that somethin minor hit you thta you might not have even felt or considered. if you dont get any better answers then this one you might consider seeking a doctors advice.

Drinking tomato juice should help if it is a matter of blood needing to be thinned without the bad effects of aspirin. Hope that helps.

Does your multi have Vitamin C? Also you could be anemic. These are the 2 things I would check first.
