....is the belief in evolution a religion?

You have to have faith to believe that humans evolved from an ape-like ancestor, just like you have to have faith to believe the Son of God will give humans eternal life right?

Have you ever wondered just how many Religions there are in this great world.?
There is literally over 1500 made up each year.
Not many stick around but some do, and cause a lot of grief. I remember once as a kid I used to think that I ( we ) came from the ocean and that all life existed in the waters once. However,
thanks to God and His begotten Son we know for fact that this is not true in any ways. He has given us eternal life since before the foundations of the earth. He spoke all things into existence, and He knows every hair on your head and counts them. But us, . . . . ?
We know so little about our existence. To prove that, . . . . We have NASA, who thinks that the answer is in the heavens. Not the way we think, but in different ways. Just like the Tower of Babel. Man has been striving for answers to many questions like yours. I do not nor have I
ever believed that we evolved from Ape's or anything like that. God created us to be ( IN HIS LIKENESS ) not like ape's. We are molded
into the image of HE who created us since from the foundations of the earth. We are distant relatives of Adam and Eve. The book of Numbers will attest to that. So I suggest that you stick with the facts and not from some faithless ideology that really does not exist. Thanks to Darwin. ha,ha.
I hope that this helps you in this quest to find the truth and the facts. !!

Argh... I hate this question. Sure, if you consider evolution is faith based you can all evolution a "religion" but that means that your definition of religion is 'anything that is faith based'. So then you're girlfriend's love for you would be a religion. Your favorite team making it to the Superbowl would be a religion.

I think we all agree that religion is a system of beliefs that are designed as a system of living and deal with either the supernatural, spirit or the afterlife. Evolution does not deal with this stuff, so isn't a religion.

HOWEVER evolution is not faith based, it was founded on scientific evidence. So you can call it evidence-based. There are only minor holes in the fossil record. Evolution isn't just a theory anymore, it is verging on scientific fact.

Nope. Evolution isn't faith-based. It's based on evidence. We have lots of evidence that humans evolved from earlier ancestors.

No, science is based on careful evaluation of evidence. The genetic homologies between humans and apes demonstrste the link. Even if you can't see it happend, you can see the record stored in our genes.

Faith is the willful suspension of reason.
Evolution is the product of a reasoned conclusion.
Mysticism is the product of imagination and then faith in what you dreamed up. How does this seem equal?

we are saved by using Grace, we believe by using faith and are taught that faith with out works is ineffective. some religions coach that the kind of sturdy deeds in the event that they stability out the evil or sinful issues or are greater desirable than, then you definately are saved. that's deception, we believe we are purely saved because of the fact of what Christ has achieved for us on the flow, lest any guy ought to boast. And once you recognize what HE has achieved and the cost He paid, and repent in acknowledgment that our sins nailed HIM to the flow the "choose" to proceed to sin is broken. Our so spoke of as "deeds" are to do what Christ commanded us as followers and disciples. Shalom

Did Jesus told you to have faith in a religion? Salvation is not found in any religion. The Bible is not about Science. The Bible emphatically teaches that we can have faith in Jesus and not
faith in science.

Its not faith that people believe in evolution. Evolution is just a theory. It hasn't been fully proven. Just like Christianity is just a theory, it has not been fully proven either.

'Fraid not.

Evolution is supported by MOUNTAINS of evidence. There are gaps but that is the nature of science. God has no, zero, nada, zilch evidence and so belief is only sustained by faith. That's fine. But evolution has the real deal. Live with it.

I can look at fossil evidence, dna evidence, homologous structures, watch populations evolve over time with my own eyes. No faith necessary
