Micah 5:12 (NIV) I will destroy your witchcraft, and you will no longer cast spells.
Exodus 20:7 (NIV) "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name
It is sobering to see how similar modern witchcraft (Wicca, or "white witchcraft") is to modern Christianity. Self-aware witches bless as well as curse, 'bind and loose', prophesy, pray, lay hands on, anoint with oil, etc. Some even consider themselves Christians with a superior understanding and power. A few even worship Jesus--along with a pantheon of other gods and goddesses--but totally reject the reality of Satan
Deuteronomy 18:10-11 (NIV) Let no one be found among you... who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or cast spells, or who is a medium or spiritist.
Jesus' miracles were done out of love in obedience to the Father. He did not do "miracles on demand" (see the temptation of Jesus in Mark 4:1-12. The temptation

Just a quick note to nottashygirl - yes, Wiccans *do* believe in a God. Just not the Judeo-Christian concept/aspect of God.
As far as Christian Wiccans, the ones I have known have initially identified the God with Jesus and the Goddess with Mary, when they work with individual aspects. But the CWs I've known have slowly found themselves using less and less Christian symbolism in their path, and many ended up dropping the "Christian" from their path.
I think part of it is people who are in transition from Christianity to Wicca do this as a way of growing away from old beliefs and into new ones. There is so much fear that is ingrained into Christians that holding on to some of the familiarity is, to me, understandable, but as people learn more about Wicca and walk more on a Wiccan path, they leave the fear behind and develop a different relationship with the God and Goddess.
On a purely academic level, is it any different than those who identify with Gods and Goddesses of any other pantheon or mythology?

Uh... again no question. I love ur answers but u need to work on ur questions.Jesus did everything He saw the Father doing. He revealed the Father's will and heart. Christians have the ability to curse, bless, prophesy, pray, lay hands on, anoint with oil, in a righteous way when follow the Spirit's leading.

Wiccans can not be Christian, and Christians can not be Wiccan. It is an oxymoron. Wicca is a polytheistic religion, Christianity is a monotheistic religion. Because the Christian God states that when you are part of his covenant you worship him and him alone, you can not be polytheistic. So the two religions can not be combined together. If someone comes to you and offers you their religion as Christian and whatever hyphenated after it, be assured they are a Christian trying to cover some bases, not the after thought they tacked onto their name.

What is the question??? For some of us who follow other paths other than Christianity, and who have researched into history, understand that when Christianity was taking over, anything and everything that was not their ideas of how it should be was considered evil and not from God. So of course the Bible is going to say that those things are wrong. :)

1. Preaching does nothing.
2. A person can be Wiccan and not be a witch. You need to grow up and open your eyes. There's a wide world around you beyond your tiny little book.

Wicca - polytheistic
Christianity - monotheistic.
Can not blend the two, hon. So peddle it someplace else.
And for you folks out there tacking all those nice little "Extras" onto your name after "Christian" - quit straddling the fence. You are either a Christian, or you are not. Adding something else onto your name does not cover the bases "in case" you might be wrong.
Stand up on your own two feet and commit to something.

Again, Wiccans are not Christian...they do not believe in God or Jesus. Get your facts right. You seem to be an encyclopedia of bible bs, but you can't research before you write. Get a life.

There are many people who call themselves Christian-Wiccas because they use the Godhead as their Trinity. I think they are mislead, but they are convinced.
