I work in the field of alcohol and drug treatment.
The first thing you should know is no matter how much love and caring you give, you can not make an addict quit using. Most of the time an addict use our love to make it easier for them to use.
It is called co-dependency. We have to let them hit bottom ( meaning to not have help financially, or emotionally) so they can better see how there addiction is effecting there life. There thinking is not normal, they do not see that drugs are causing the problems in there life. They blame other people. Addiction is a die seas , there is no cure, they can quit using drugs, but the first thing that has to occur is there willingness and desire not to use. Untill that happens even treatment want help, many people have been court ordered to treatment and not gotten clean. All you can really do for them is to tell them when they decide they want to change the way they are living you will help them find a treatment facility. It is there chose.

they cant get help if they dont want it. its a horrible addiction. and coming off it is horrible and painful. the person needs treatment.
