In the bible, remember before he was a leader, when Moses got dissed by an israelite? The israelite was like, "Are you going to kill me too, like you did to the Egyptian yesterday?" The Isrealite took offense at Moses trying to correct him because of Moses' past sin. Do you think that the Israelite was justified to respond the way he did to the advice that moses was giving him? How are we to respond to advice when it's coming from someone who has a bad record?

Very good question.

In times like this, I think of " you will know them by their fruits ". Jesus was talking false prophets. I think that metaphor could apply to many other situation as well.

How ever, if you keep judging the value of some one's advice souly on first impression, then it's possible to over look some really good ideas.

If find it's best to let it rattle around in your head awhile. Human skeptic nature ( and perhaps a little divine intervention ) will sort it out.

Best wishes.

Justified? No, not really. I'd have to turn forward and borrow a New Testament doctrine...but - the Israelite was certainly guilty of "casting the first stone" at Moses without looking at his own sin first.

But it's certainly human nature to do so...and - as He always does....God used that incident for His ultimate glory.

We do not become better people or acquire wisdom unless we make mistakes in life. Let's put it this way, would you rather take marriage advice from someone who has never been married, or from someone who's been down the road before (including bumps and detours?)

It's called being human.

I'd say the proof's in the pudding. I don't take much advice from someone who's broken the rules and shamed themselves.

you should take advice from somebody if it makes sense no matter what that persons background is, it doesnt matter if it is a good suggestion
