Does it matter ?

It is very unlikely to be worth anything very much, so why worry ?

If you need this for a bibliography, you can probably fudge the date a bit. Say 1952.

I've had to fudge on papers before and no professor's complained. The publication date rarely matters for a classic peice of literature. Rarely will they actually double check the info if the quotes you give are accurate. I tried looking through Amazon and gave up.

Look on the inside cover or the first couple pages. The publication date is usually around there.
