If you already got the ticket forget it. If you have been to court they tell you to plea gulity or not gulity. And they tell you there is no gulity with an explanation. Well you won't belive this story....My friend got pulled and cited for speeding. He went to a auto shop and had his speedometer checked and found that it was reading wrong. He went to court and showed the judge the papers and explained what happened. Futhermore since it was late at night and there weren't any other cars on the road. (if he had been passing cars he would have known he was going too fast). The judge accepted it and so reduced the fine by 50%.
My friend was really mad and so was I, they should have torn up the ticket.

I was on my way to actually visit a friend of mine who was on duty in a small town when I received a ticket in the small town maybe 6 miles from his. Ironically enough, my friend also used to work for that city, as well.
I was pretty upset by it, but I didn't play any games, lie, cry to the officer who wrote the ticket. However, naturally once I was on my way again, I was a little emotional.
When I saw my friend he asked what was wrong and I told him. He asked to see the ticket and I handed it to him.
He opened his clipboard, tossed it in, and said, "I know the guy. Don't worry about it...I will take care of it".
He set it up where I would fight the ticket and the officer wouldn't show. And that is how it happened.
Doesn't mean it is exactly "right", but sometimes it is who you know.

I am assuming you have already gotten the ticket so most of the answers on this will not help you since it is too late to play dumb.
The best thing to do is fight it in court. I am fairly certain that most of the time when you go to court the ticket is thrown out (in most state the officer has to show up in court and most of them do not).

I've never had one. But I did get out of a ticket for running a stop sign by telling the truth about why it happened.

Do the smart thing and cut your loses. If you contest the ticket in court, and lose, you will have to pay the ticket and court costs.

Told the truth, it stunned him so much that he let me go. This was after doing 70 in a 35 IN FRONT of the police station.

It's always nice to bat ones eyes.. and play stupid.. which has actually worked for me twice...
Along with offering my number which has worked three times..
but all in all I would say go to court and fight it out.. that's the easist way.
