You can put just about anything you have in the fridge on a sub. Sliced meat, cheese, peppers, onions, veggies, leftover chicken or beef. If you have the ingredients, my favorite is salami, provolone or mozzerella, roasted red peppers, red onion slices, lots of mayo and some lettuce leaves. I toast the bun first, or grill it.

My Uncle did this for me when my daughter was ill and my DH and I had opposing schedules- I still do it all summer to keep dinner easy. Get a 2 reusable deli trays (compartment-ed) place your favorite meats/cheeses in one - in the other place hand leafed lettuce, sliced tomatoes, onion, olives, pepperchini's, cucumber and sprinkle fresh items with lemon juice salt and pepper. Have on hand a variety of presliced rolls and whenever anyone wants a sandwich they can create away. Refill as needed. You can switch up the meats with shredded beef, sliced chicken breast, pepperoni, salami , meatloaf and use a variety of cheeses to keep the plates from being boring. This will also work for a "Mexican bar" just fill 1 tray with cooked seasoned ground beef, Spanish rice, beans, shredded chicken and the other with tomato, onion, cheese, shredded lettuce and have ready made tortillas, taco shells and your favorite salsa on hand for a quick taco or burrito. My kids also love leftover pizza so you can order a large on a slow day and have it for later meals. Good Luck!

bread is the key. make sure the bread is nice and soft but firm enough to hold all the ingredients you want in your sandwich. Then just go to your local deli and get meats and cheeses and cut up some veggies.

For something a little different, you could try making your submarine with Cole's Zesty garlic bread. It's found in the freezer section at your favorite grocery store. enjoy!

try using french bread or baguettes, no sliced bread. Add avocado to turkey breast, and add bacon if you like. Light mayo and mustard, lettuce, onion, american cheese and tomato should be added and that is my favorite sandwich.
