I'm with you 100% on this one. I'm tired of all these fools coming on here, saying they have experienced the military cause their Great-uncle was in WW2.
I was in the U.S. Army for 4 years and I am very proud of my service. I don't answer every question that is on here because even I don't know everything about the military.

I'm sorry, are you talking about my liberal hippy family?
I joined the military at 17, served in Viet Nam and Desert Storm and retired with over 30 years of service, as an E-9 with a Bronze star and two MSM's. My parents were Quakers and abhorred my military service, although three brothers served for one enlistment each. My five sisters think that I am a freak of nature and are still smoking their dope and waiting for the revival of the hippie movement. Now I have a high ranking government position and they avoid me like the plague.

I am a 17 year Army vet, medically retired, with with numerous deployments under my belt to include OIF. That being said I was always proud, even before my service, of all my family who served priviously to me, 3 great uncles in WWII, various in Korea and vietnam. Having pride in your familys Military heritage is a good thing, how could anyone possibly constru that as bad?

I'd imgine that those people who had a uncle, brother or Dad who served in combat (I believe that only true soldier/marine is one who served in combat not in the rear with the gear) would have heard a lot of first hand stories about war/combat which means that person who listened would have a lot more knowledge about military combat than the avg. American.

I've haven't seen anyone here doing what you claim.
Anyone with a Dad in WW2 or brother in Nam would be too old to serve anyway.
Military life must be tough if you're online as much as you seem to be.

It's part of the same mental quirk (actually disease) that made Bush feel so manly in his mission accomplished flight suit.
