To the functional illiterate a few posts below me: I was born in Michigan in 1954. My parents were born in Minnesota and Michigan. My father earned the DFC and Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters as a B-29 pilot in WW2. If that makes me a Canadian, fine. My grandfather became a naturalized American citizen after serving in the Royal 42nd Highlanders Black Watch Regiment of Scotland in the First World War. Does that make me Canadian just because my grandfather emigrated from Scotland? I happened to be raised in New Orleans and have studied the War of 1812 a bit more closely than the average American. The fact I can compose coherent sentences as opposed to your poorly constructed, badly punctuated sentences may indeed have confused you into thinking I am Canadian. I don't mind a bit. Back to Fox News with you, laddie. There has long been a friendly rivalry between Canadian and American military. Canada has produced many Victoria Cross recipients. Canadian Billy Bishop shot down 78 airplanes in WW1, just behind the Red Baron's 80. Canadian troops took the White House in the War of 1812. The U.S. actually lost that war, which is why we point to the Battle of New Orleans instead. In both World Wars, Canada entered the moment the United Kingdom was at war. The U.S. is the country that showed up years later. Simple facts. I know some of my fellow Americans don't like it but that's how it is.

Culturally, Canada does have similarities to the U.S., but there is (and has been) an incredible amount of anti-Americanism in Canada going back decades. Most Americans are not aware of this. I used to get CBC news on cable tv and you would be shocked at how slanted against America some of the news is. I am not against Canadians, but this is America and I have to freedom to voice my opinion. I think that some Canadians fear domination (whatever that means) by the U.S. because the U.S. is a much larger country than Canada. Some of it is pure human nature-- ppl always have a tendency to subdivide themselves.

Canadians are cool... level headed.. and culturally affiliated with the US and the UK for a long time. Sharing inherited values. Both countries have inherited the indominatable British "spine", in additon to the fabled "stiff upper lip". Yes.. we the Americans, Canadians, and Brits will always squabble from time to time, as all siblings do. But when somebody from the outside comes after any of us, we will stand together for who we are and have always been.

God I hope not we have been trading partners for a long time and share a lot of history. Also as being part of the former UK and also helping in WWII we have a lot of history here, most of us think of you as our little brother, but that's my view.

Not really because everyone knows how pathetic the US military is and they aren't trained as well as others like the UK,Australia and China.
