I don't know how old you are, but this has always brought a tear to my mother's eyes and put a huge smile on my father's face. All you have to do is be honest about your feelings toward them. Let them know how thankful you are to have them as parents. It also helps to bring up something for years ago, some kind of advice that they gave you and you just didn't listen, they like to know that even though you may not have wanted to listen to what they were saying, you've always kept that in the back of your mind. Parents don't think that their kids ever really listen to what they say, just let them know that even though you're not always paying attention, you are listening.

Mom and Dad,
It's Christmastime and I just want to take this opportunity
to say how grateful I am for every late night at work so I
could have everything I needed, for every sleepless night
where I was sick and you comforted me.

As I get older I realize that you gave up alot of yourselves
to ensure that I was well taken care of.

I want you to know that I appreciate you both very much.
I appreciate all the hard work and all the love you bestowed
upon me all the years of my life.

Merry Christmas Mom and Dad

Love,

_____
