That depends on the state that you live in. Most states, I believe, LVN's can't hang blood, start IVs, or push certain IV drugs...unless they are specifically trained by their facility or take additional classes. There are other differences as well, like admission assessments usually have to be done by an RN. Again, this varies by state.

It varies from state to state. It some states, LVN's or LPN's cannot start an IV or draw blood. They can do most of the other things an RN does like passing out medications, dressing changes, charting, and all other hospital care.

LVN's/LPN's only have one year of training and RN's have 2-4 years of training. RN's graduate from diplomate, associate or bachelor degrees. RN's have a greater chance to advance their position because their education.

from what i know rn's can give meds at the hosptial lpn cant
