I often use cannabis is my practices. I am a Lokean, follower of the norse god Loki, and find the state of mind induced lends itself well to mischievious thought, especially as it leaves you too zoned out to do any of the really naughtier ideas Loki may you. I will do a combo of fasting, and then smoking or eating some special cake, and invoke loki, and write. Does any do anything similar? Or is pot still really frowned upon amongst Pagans? Every book I read is pretty much "drugs are bad, m-kay"

No, I am an alcoholic and have realized that drugs and alcohol only put blocks on spirituality. If you really want to experience something special learn to use your own spiritual energy, it is 100 times more potent than the stuff your smoking.

I'm sorry, how are you going to give the man with Cron's disease a thumbs down? No sir, don't smoke that completely natural plant that grows every where to ease your pain, but take some of this morphine that will make you more sick than your illness...

I believe Native American religions use peyote in their religious practices, but that's the only other religion that I know of that uses drugs to induce a mind altering state.

Cannibus has a 7 thousand year history (actually longer) and I think it was burned as incense for spiritual meditation.

Well, Rastafarians certainly use it. And it has a dark history in the Islamic world - the secret army of al-Hassan used hashish to indoctrinate recruits, making them believe they were in Paradise when really they were just stoned beyond belief. It is from the word hashish that the movement got it's name - "Assassin".

The most spiritual experience I know of is "being myself honestly." Pot helps me be spiritual by showing me myself from a different perspective.

"Spiritual" is such a meaningless word. If you want to smoke pot to relax, I'm not going to stop you. You don't need to add all the extra "spiritual" nonsense on it to justify it.
