I'm not trying to convert you, but churches are a great place to find groups who participate in community servie. I was a youth director once, and I organized for our 7th and 8th graders to cook a meal at a nearby homeless shelter. We also went on mission trips. My first one was to Mexico, but there are so many organizations - you can find one that goes to your place of interest and enquire with them.
I highly recommend a mission trip for everyone at least once in their lives. 13 is not too young to become deeply involved. Here's an inspiring story link about a girl named Ashley Gunn. She was 12 when she went with a church group to Malawi in Africa.

You're off to a good start. Knowing what's going on around you and caring is the first step. At your age, it's difficult to find a way to help. You can volunteer locally to get your feet wet. Some kids have raised very large sums of money for causes also. Do some research on line to look for opportunities; try the United Way, local volunteer search engines, homeless shelters/soup kitchens, church organizations, etc. You might also ask a guidance counselor at school for help. Good luck!

Be respectful, kind, treat others as you wish to be treated. Do this while you are growing up and make it a habit...then when you reach adult age, join the peace corps honey. By then, everything you need to know will not only be in your head, but in your heart as well. I wish there were more kids like you!

You've already started with your desire to do for the world. Now prepare yourself with education; learn of the world to better understand all that is in it.
