My opinion? Flickr --
Shutterfly is more about selling you prints than facilitating picture sharing.
Myspace? Good gracious no . . . uploading and sharing pictures is trying and inefficient.
Photobucket: It's free and you can make external links to your pictures, but ...
Flickr has a great community (groups), great utilities (Uploadr), great collaboration tools (comments, notes on photos, etc), and great built-in tools (tags & sets!).
It's also free. Check it out!

One thing with free sharing sites is that they (usually) don't allow the people you sharing with download the original photos. Buy the prints and stuff - yes, but not the originals. If you make high quality pictures this can become annoying.
Good free one was www.snapfish.com
Yahoo is updating its photos site. I believe they are still in process. Last time I checked they offered free hi-res downloads. Besides, you are already have account there.
The sites that support downloading: www.imagestation.com (cost just $3 per year) and www.smugmug.com. But they are not free.
But I'm sure there are more.
Oh, one good thing just found on CNet: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6451_7-6245099-1.html
Enjoy.
