I wouldn't say common, When I debate with an Atheist, they are the ones that go away wondering if they do have all the answers. When I ask questions, all I will get are silly, childish remarks. never any good answers.
Have you ever seen a Spirit? Can you prove there are none? Can you tell me what makes sex feels good? Why does it feel good, why not bad? Why does food taste good? Why is it an orange, an apple, a banana or any fruit have to taste good, why not bad, but we have to eat it to live, and it just happens to be good for us.
We just happen to have air, water, sunshine, soil, trees, everything to have life, just lucky I guess??? The Earth has four seasons, or many plants would die. I could go on and on and you want me to have this super faith that it is all by chance??? Get real!!!!!!!
Sorry, I did use the word faith.

I don't use the "faith" card.
1st off has anyone ever converted to anything through a debate.. i think not so i woulnd't be debating with and Atheist in the first place..
How much evidence exsists that the big bang ever happened or that George Washington ever actually was a real person? That's just a conspiracy theory.
What kind of critical thinking are you talking about? I've never had that problem.
There are things in the bible that we'll never wrap our minds around due to the fact that humans are actually idiots, but God loves us anyway. The doctrine of election, the gap theory.. just to name a few..
that's my answer to your question..

Probably for the same reason you are attacking something you obviously know very little about, yet have definate opinions about. This would make the answer to your question be "a lack of knowledge".
If you really want to be critical about God and the bible why don't you try reading it first. This way you can form your own opinions instead of accepting someone elses as your own.
If you have questions regarding the truth claims of God that are in the bible feel free to e-mail me, if you really are interested in the truth. Most of the truth claims of God and His promises to mankind are provable today. This is because God's truths do not change, they are consistently true. However, when you examine the truth claims of men they are constantly changing due to new knowledge, societies acceptance or political climate unless they are in agreement with God's truths and even then man tries to change or adapt them to his purposes.

The only time I play the faith card is when someone asks me to tell them how I can be sure. And I dont play it to avoid it, the FACT I have faith IS my surety.
I have never realized is doesnt make sense, I have never felt as if I have lost a debate, been skeptic, or found anything in the Bible that did not make sense to me.

5. To let God's conviction speak to the person and use the seed that they have already planted to bring that person to salvation, thereby ruling out all other reasons.
