Many military men probably acknowledge, after experience, that military life is not as glorious as all the commercial propaganda makes it out to be. So they want better alternatives for their wife. The overriding factor for why military men don’t want their wives in the military because they know it is a precarious job, that could very well lead to the loss of ones own life. Men, from a historical perspective, and also instinctually, want their wives to out live them because women are the pillars of their family.

I know lots of happy and successful married couples (in the Army). Some guys however, may feel the Army is too long of hours, deployments, and unstable at times. A non-military spouse provides stability and reduces stress (even if they have a career its not as bad as dual-military). Finally you have some guys that want a stay at home spouse. It boils down to personal preference. Great question!

I'm not in the military but I can make a couple of guesses. One possibility would be that if they are both military they could end up stationed in different places. If they have have kids there is also the possibility that both could be sent to someplace dangerous like Iraq.

Ok, here is the real answer.... because your husband knows that 99% of women in the military become whores and all men in the military will try to get in their pants.

I was married while I was in the military. Nothing wrong with it. Maybe some men, don't want the guys hitting on their wives? I don't really know?

Gonna go with my first gut answer. I know when I was in the last thing I would have wanted was to worry about my wife as well. Bad enough all the deployments I saw and the crap that put her through being home.

You answered your own question. Because the both of you will be split up, and Lord only know what will happen to you from here on out.Your mate is stressed out enough without having to worry about how his wife is getting along in a war zone.

o.k., but what happens if you have kids??? plus, things are different over there. it's not the same. you guys may be stationed near each other, but it's not like you'll be on vacation together.

i know how hard it is for my husband to leave us when he goes on deployment....i could never do that.
