what does military specailty EW 1731 stand for?

I can tell you that it isn't a US Army MOS (military occupational specialty). The Army assigns their MOSs an alphanumeric designation with the number first. IE 11B (infantry) 91B (medic) 96B(Intel analyst) 351B(CI Agent Warrent Officer)

EW does stand for Electronic Warfare but I have no clue what 1731 is. However in the article referenced earliter at this link http://www.dtic.mil/descriptivesum/Y2003/Army/0604270A.pdf

1731 represents the dollar figure in thousands that has been spent on Signals Warefare Development.

Well its not Army. all army specialties are in the format of 2 numbers followed by a letter of the alphabet.

The one poster is probably correct to assume that the EW stands for Electronic Warfare
