If you play video games, it would be a much better value
to get a PS3 as opposed to just a Blu Ray Disc player.

You can compare for yourself but visiting some price
and product comparison websites and Sony's site...

As others have said, the PS3 is cheaper if you wait just a bit. Plus you get so much more with gaming, and I'm sure some multi media features.

But since I own a xbox 360, I'll be purchasing the hd dvd add on. I'll try and run it through the pc to take advantage of the dolby truehd, but if my processor can't handle it then I'll just connect it to the xbox 360. If you have a pc with a new generation, dual core processor and an hdcp video card using an xbox 360 HD DVD player attached to it would be a good way to go.

If you were lucky enough to get a ps3 before the holidays then that would be the best way to go. They were only 6-700 dollars then. A Descent to good bluray can cost anywhere from 700-1000 dollars. If you are looking for something now then you should definately go with the bluray. If you are willing to wait you should. Mid-late next year more ps3 systems will be made and that would be the best way for you to go.

Playstation 3 is cheaper by about $200 but that is msrp. If you wait until the next release of Playstation 3s I would go that route. You never want to buy the first production of any electronic. Let them work out some glitches and wait until the second or third release.
