Sounds aren't playing on my computer. I got this message:

"MMSYSTEM326 No wave device that can play files in the current format is installed"

Ok, so I assume I need to install something to fix this, but what?

It's most likely one of two things.

1. Your sound card driver got messed up and you need to reinstall it, for this you need the model and make of the sound card (which may be in user docs if your computer came with them, or you can physically look on the card that has the sound plugs within the PC). Go to the manufacturer site, support & downloads and find the drivers for your model, download and install.
2. You may be missing the codecs required to play the sounds that aren't playing. This isn't the case if it's absolutely all sound giving this error, but if it's only when you try to play MP3's for instance, it may be.
In which you can try this solution:

You have to reinstall the sound card (the CD is given to you when you bought your computer). If it doesn't works, you have a problem with your windows or with your speakers.

Did the sounds work before? If not, you might not have a sound card, or it is bad. If they did work before, try updating the driver for your sound card, or it might be bad.
