I get more disgusted with the atheists that hate religion for all the wrong reasons. In other words, there are possibly more dumb atheists in proportion to their numbers than dumb "religionists."
Disgust is often evidence of ignorance on the part of the "disgustee." Religious myths fill a void that atheists have yet to address with any that are more effective.

Even though I've come to the realization that there isn't anything in or out of the universe that I choose to call 'god', I'm still interested in religion and value it as a social structure. Reading this forum though is certainly an education in the darker side of religion and continues to convince me that we are collectively doomed if we abandon a force as strong as religion to the fundies.
Try to separate out religion from the believers. They're actually two separate things. Religions can be cool. They all have their moments too, of wisdom and beauty. Buddhism is still one of my organizing principles and my community is Judaism.

the same....but what always gets to me is the EXTREMELY poor logic people use when arguing for God. I constantly see the following statements:
"We are here, therefore God created us"
"The Bible tells us to love God, therefore God is real"
"X is a sin because God says it is"
"You are going to be damned to hell for not believing as I do"
"Evolution can't explain how life started therefore God did it"
Do they not realize how poor these arguments are? Let me put it this way: Just because we do not know the "why" behind certain things, it is a terrible assumption to say that God did it.
For example: I wake up in the morning and walk outside only to see that I have a flat tire on my car. There is no hole in the tire, the cap is still on, and there is no logical reason evident to me to explain how my tire lost pressure. I can either say "I have no idea how my tire lost pressure", which would be a correct statement (admitting my inability to know the reason), or I can say "I don't know why it happened, therefore God must have taken the air out"....which is a worthless statement and evidence that I am using NO LOGIC in my ASSUMPTION

The thing that makes me saddest and sickest is the lack of respect people show for those who believe differently than they do. I'm not talking about those who reply to rude questions, but those who respond to the most innocuous, reasonable, respectful questions with vitriol.

I do not travel to the R&S section often. We are so bombarded by religious propaganda on a regular basis, that on my own time I choose not to play.
"Freedom FROM Religion" rather than freedom of religion is my mantra.

I usually laugh, or I pity them. They've never actually nauseated me, though.
Oh, wait, except this one time a guy compared gay people to having sex with a German Shepperd. Beastiality sickens me.

i actually kind of enjoy enlightening people on things like evolution and intellegent design and sometimes even their own religions, but i also don't mind being enlightened. though sometimes there arguments that aren't arguments do annoy me. but for the most part i've built up a resistance to their stupidity. But not all of them are stupid, just half of them.

Yes, I have my days. When that happens, you just have to unplug. Someone else will always be there to take over in the meantime. :)
But FYI, if you'd like to experience "scared" by the R&S section... take a look at the responses to this question...

I get the same way.
The worst is the evil that theists can preach while at the same time claiming to be the only source or morality.
