my choice for cider

1)cinnamon schnapps
2)apricot brandy (really!)
3) both together (my favorite)

I've done rum or brandy. Both are really delicious in hot cider. Another option is Jack Daniels or Bourbon. I think in general, you'll do well with a brown liquor though I would personally hate scotch in cider.

Tuaca, to make a hot apple pie heat a mug of apple cider with a Cinnamon stick put a shot of the Tuaca in and top with whip cream

Captain Morgan's spiced rum goes especially well in hot apple cider. Also goes well in Coke too.
