I am 12. I am very lucky, i can eat anything without the worry of putting on weight. I am not on medication and don't do radical exercise. What is the likelyhood of it staying with me for life?

No, unfortunately that amazing ability won't be able to stay with you forever. As you get older, your metabolism will slow down and you'll eventually start to put on weight. I had the same ability when I was first entering my teenage years, but I'm 19 years old now and I've already begun to notice the difference. And on top of that, I am a former taekwondo assistance instructor, which means I did do radical exercise. So sad that I can't eat half a gallon of peanut butter ice cream and not have to think about the side effects anymore...

No - I was just like you until about 21 when I started a family. Your metabolism changes as you age. Also, as a girl, you're programmed to put on fat around your boobs and hips ready for children. Once you're fully grown, your muscle mass gradually declines as you age no matter how much you exercise. Muscle burns calories all the time, even when you're asleep, so when you're an old lady, you'll need to eat less calories to maintain your weight. Don't worry too much at your age - you're naturally slim and will probably stay that way until your mid 20's without any dieting. Eat good food, walk, dance, or whatever else you like doing.

lol sorry to laugh but you sound like me when I was your age. You're body is still so young it's not quite growing like it will yet. No you won't be able to do tht forever. TRUST ME. I am a dancer and I know from personal experience. I used to be like that as well. The trick is to start a good fitness routine now, make sure you eat healthy. Live a 80/20 lifestyle. 80% of the time be healthy about what you put into your body and use the 20% to eat what you want without reserve. Believe me, otherwise, the pounds will sneak on and before you know that figure you thought you didn't have to do anything about will NOT be there anymore. :)

As you age your metabolism will slow, generally this happens after puberty, but commonly in the mid twenties for females. However, with healthy eating, diet and exercise you can maintain a healthy, active metabolism.
I used to be like you and though I am more conscious of what I eat now, I can still tell that though I won't gain hundreds of pounds that I do get a few extra ones here and there if I'm not careful. However having a very tiny frame ensures that I wouldn't be able to carry around hundreds of spare pounds.

Congratulations on a great body metabolism AND still exercising along with it. That's the good news. The bad news is that not everyone who does have a good metabolism will keep it after they hit anywhere between 19-36. Case in point: My father started gaining weight despite the fact that he still is working over 40+ hours a week. And yes, he's very physically active at work and working around his house! However, he doesn't really eat like he should. Chances for you are good that you'll still have a great shape if you cut down on your calorie intake later in life and keep working out like you do.

ms vicki i was just like u at 12 till 19yrs of age and thought the same way, I was a 200meter relay athelete and loved working out not forgetting my metabolism was fantaboulous.... but when I started dating my husband I stopped working out little by little and by the time I was married I just did not have time to go to the gym. I am 25 now and 4yrs in marriage I am over weight 60lbs and don't know how to get rid of it..... with so many responsibilities its really hard to go to the gym.
well my main point is to tell u yes things do change and so does our body..... if u take care of it not thinking that i won't gain it trust me thats where we are mistaken they add up and we won't even notice.
well hope this helps go to the gym and keep ur self fit...

Once you are into your twenties your metabolism will slow down a bit. After 20 you definetly need to cut down on your intake.
But as of now EAT ALL YOU WANT....and enjoy your time
But i would suggest do some workout everyday. If you work out and build good muscles in your body chances are your metabolism will stay as it is now till you are 40.
Workouts like swimming and/or tennis. They will keep your metabolism at an ever high rate.

As a rule you tend to put on weight as you get older. I'm lucky that I've always been slim but I have to be more careful about what I eat now. I think that you tend to need less food as you get older.

More than likely not. As you get older your metabolism slows down. Not only that, but you're probably more active than you think. Adults typically don't get in as much activity and exercise as kids do.
