It depends on what kind of PPE you are talking about, if you are just using breathing apparatus then yes, there is still a risk. not just to yourself but also to those you come in contact with. your protection should include a complete one piece disposable overall, which you should remove in a designated area, then on to a shower room and from there to your personal locker room.
no clothing that has been exposed to the dust should ever be taken home for cleaning as anybody, wife, children, would be exposed to it.

Your DEAD right, there are many rules that need to be followed. IF they are followed it will be safer don't get complacent. The most important is not to come into contact either by inhalation absorption etc when donning PPE there should be a CLEAN AND DIRTY AREAS as not to contaminate other areas and your clothes if you have concerns please speak to your supervisor if you still have issues go higher and if still not happy contact the HSE no job is worth your health.

my dad died from asbestosis, horrible death. would.nt even go there for all the tea in china
