I visited a dentist. Because of my move, this dentist is a new guy. He found a small crack on my crown and he needs to replace the whole crown because it may develop tooth decay through that and said it would cost $5000 for five teeth. And then, quickly turned around and offer $1000 off of the price when I said I would need a second opinion.

1. Replacing the entire crown is the only option I have? there is no such thing like repairing the crown?

2. Does it really cost $1000 for each tooth in Atlanta area?

You can develop a cavity in the crown that has a crack in it. It all depends on how deep the crack is and how long you have had the crack. Replacing the crown is most likely the answer to your problem, but I don't think that it should cost $1000 per tooth. What are the other 4 teeth for or about? If you fix the cracked crown now it won't mess up the other surrounding teeth. A crown in the chicago area cost only $825.00. Make sure you get a second opinion.
Also, how long have you had the crown? Crowns should last at least 5 years. If something happens to it within those years the doctor should fix it for a small fee. I know your insurance won't pay for it if its on the same tooth within those years. Good luck.

Ummmmmmmmmm your getting ripped off there guy.

You had better get a second and third opinion. Then compare the 3 options and go with the one you feel is the best.

It should only be 2-300 per tooth. Not over 1000.

Go to a different dentist. This new guy sounds like a shyster.

Is it too expensive for you to return to your old location for follow-up with the former dentist?

For the amount of quote it seems that you should consider going back to former location.

Definitely see a different dentist in your new location.
