when you try to open a program, norton will open a window and allow you to check a box that says "always allow this program" Do that and you will have no problems.

You could call Norton technical help.
If you do uinstall Norton, you might want to try AVG Anti-virus at
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/trial/lng/us/tpl/tpl01 for free for 30 days. I have used this program without problem for well over a year, and it has caught some viruses too. A Great program!

There are a lot of problems on this site about Norton......Even when it's running it has a large " footprint" and slows down the works. Get shot of it and if you don't install AVG......which is popular and liked by folk.......take a look at Nod32. This is one of the best and has a very small footprint.

With Vat it'll cost about £27 per work station. Well worth it.

As with all problems associated with Nortons attempts to disable every pc it's installed on, your best solution is to uninstall everything Norton.

And NEVER buy a norton product again.

throw that Norton away, it's crap anyway, just slows your computer down.
then start your computer, if normal boot doesn't take you to XP, start your pc in SafeMode, then from there go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools > System restore.
the options given there, choose "Restore my computre to earlier date", then choose an earlier date before you loaded Norton. this should fix your pc.
also, try download AVG Free antivirus, it's good and freeware.
