I take it a stage further. My wife and I are now mid 60's and I never call her by her name nor does she refer to me by name. We made it a point when the children were young that I would call her Mom and she would call me Dad. It has continued for the past 40 years. It causes consternation when we are on the phone to each other and there are people nearby. Imagine this 'Hello Mom' or 'Hello Dad'. Many times we have been asked how old our parents are....................

If he wasn't proud of you why would he refer to you as his good wife..Obviously he thinks subconsciously that you are better than he, knows more than he and he would rather defer to your judgement than his own if need be..Yes I agree he should call you by name when called for, but in a third party conversation to say "my good wife think whatever and she usually is right" is ok..I suggest you don't get upset over BS..Just think if he compared you with other women who are more successful than you..now how would you feel. So don't kick a gift horse in the mouth just because you think he is degrading you..I don't think he is..think about it yourself..now if the rest of your married life isn't going all that well then guess what problems are coming..Good Luck to you!

Well you have to admit, it sounds a whole lot better than calling you " the old lady".
Granted, you may be a little uncomfortable being referred to as his good wife, and yes, I understand you would rather be called by your name, but things could be a lot worse.
It doesn't sound as though he is being cruel to you. Maybe you should sit down with him and discuss this quietly and rationally.
Good luck!!

Just be grateful he doesn't refer to you as the old bag or the missus etc
The fact that he says "my good wife" shows he appreciates you and knows he has a GOOD thing with you
But if it really does irritate you just let him know how much it bothers you

I get really annoyed by referred to as the missus ... so I know where you're at. Let him know how you feel, it is a little demeaning but maybe he means it in a nice way

maybe he means it in a pseudo/machocismic way as a self inflicted joke . as in "her indoors" "the missus" "my woman". i only use my missus' real name in relation to a story i'm telling to my workmates about her behind her back.
