You do not mention what kind of mistake you made or anything else about your situation .. so there is no way anyone can advise you how to handle the situation. If you made a mistake as in sleeping with another person and you are young, maybe you just need to grow up a bit ... do it with another person. If you and your ex are meant to get back together some day you will ... whatever you do - don't force it, or beg. Easy does it.

Communication is so very important in any relationship. No relationship can exist without communication. It is not what you say but how you say it. Be a little submissive to him when you tell him you are sorry. Be a little romantic when you ell him you want to work things out. Compliment him on the fact that he has good judgment. Suggest to him that you want his input on matters of mutual concern before you do anything. In other words, stroke his ego, but not too much.
