Your friend can become ordained at http://www.ulc.net . After she is ordained she can officiate ANY ceremony.

Go with your gut feeling. Will you have trouble sleeping at night not saying anything to your friends? If so, then say something. They may not want to hear it, but as a good and caring friend, it's your duty to bring it on once and only once. You've done your job and they can take it or leave it since they are adults and must be responsible for their decisions. I agree with you that this isn't really about the number of years a relationship's been before committing to marriage. I was with my ex for 5-6ys before we got engaged and broke up. For us, there were reasons why it took that long (we were in our early 20s, and really not suited at all for one another). Right now, I've been with the most wonderful guy on earth and it's only been 6 months. BUT we've had the talks about finances, children, religion, our basic moral values, what we want of life. I know many states require that couples go through pre marriage classes to make sure all these hot topics have been talked through. Maybe you can suggest they do that? It may save their relationship if you are having iffy feelings about it...

The back of Rolling Stone magazine has a form you can fill out and send in. Anyone can do it. My wife and I were married by a friend and a good friend of the family had her brother do the ceremony for she and her husband. Might want to check the local laws. We did this in Washington state.

Tell her how important it is to have her there and the meaning behind her marrying you two. Let her know you want her to be part of your special day besides just being a guest.

You may find it easier to find some way to use two people to officiate. Your friend could work with a judge.

Your friend can become an ordained minister online. Do a Yahoo search....it's pretty easy. My stepmom is one.
