Like others said yes they do get 2 weeks R&R to return to the states. the gov. pays for their transportation to certain points but it's up to them to get home from there. Say if they get them to new york and your in jersey. Anyway my son was there . Also you can't really tell for sure when they will get their R&R it just depends on when there is time avaialble. That way everyone gts it. Some will get it half way through which is nice I know somone who got it after only being there for 3 months which was kind of bad cuz that meant there was a long stretch of being over there. Any way please don't pay attention to some of these answers they are way inappropriate and we have the best trained military in the world. Your boyfriend will be fine. Just hang tough and support him.
and thank you both for your sacrifices

According to U.S Central Command policy, Service Members, serving 12 month combat tours, gets 14 days R&R leave about the middle of thier combat tour and the 14 days start when the the Soldier arrives back in the U.S. Central Command arranges for the flight to several major U.S airports at no cost to the Service Member. In addition, most Soldiers are offorded two 4-day pass in Kuwait or Quatar for rest/relaxation.
It goes by several names, dependent on the service and speciality, for example the MP's go on special police training teams, but your boyfriend's mission is essential to winning in Iraq and eventually leaving Iraq. Please disregard the idiots that don't understand the importance of the mission. Your Boyfriend is a member of the strongest, best training military the world has ever seen before.

yes all soldiers who are in iraq for over 6 months must get 15 days of R&R in the US or country of choice. they also have 2 days of travel so they will be in the US 17 days and 15 nights. marines, airmen and sailors do not spend enough time to qualify for the R&R program.
