I could use applesauce, however I prefer margarine. I melt the amount that would be need in the receipe, and make my cake.

I find that is adds moisture, flavor, without the "weightyness" of oil. I haven't used oil in cake for 20 years or more.

I always suggest using applesauce, you just substitute the same amount for the oil in applesauce. Cakes come out very moist

Applesauce is excellent and makes for a moist cake. I've also used pureed or baby prunes, but they work better with a chocolate cake where their color wouldn't impact the cake's color.

Applesauce,mayonnaise or even buttermilk with equals of the meausurements. They turned out like mouthwatering and tasty cake.

I love to use apple sauce. It makes the cake so moist and delicious! You should try it.

Melted butter or margarine is fine...for healthy and low fat choice applesauce is a great sub...shortening too is another choice..
