I think your writing ability far surpasses a sixth grader's. Aside from a few missing commas and punctuation marks, and one misspelling that is probably just a typo, you're good to go. Why is it that your writing level is so far above your reading? Could dyslexia or some other learning disability account for your poor scores at reading comprehension? I'm not sure what resources are available for adults with undiagnosed learning disabilities. But I would ask a physician to refer you to a psychologist or other professional that can diagnose learning disabilities. What a tough question you're asking. If you would believe the pundits, an adult with only a 6th grade reading level wouldn't be able to earn a lot of money, so no, I guess I wouldn't pay for Sylvan courses. And being that my income would probably be very low, I don't think anyone would be willing to lend me the money, either. I truly hope you get the help you need. On the off chance you live in Hawaii, I'd be more than happy to try and tutor you. I wish you success in your journey.

Oh yes. Maybe it's my fault for not being clear enough, but I am very often misunderstood. I think maybe people don't want to spend a lot of time really reading the details of the question. And they also tend to jump to conclusions. You could be asking something that you just genuinely were wondering about, and some people assume you are asking a rhetorical question to try to prove something.
I had to take a class on how to teach reading skills as part of my education degree. We learned that the average newspaper writes on a 5th or 6th grade level, because they know that's all most of their readers can handle. We are really failing our kids when it comes to teaching reading. I think these Harry Potter books and things like that will probably help this generation to enjoy reading more. I hope so!

Dog I have a graduate degree, so I think I read pretty well, but I understand what you are saying. People seem so eager to jump on someone else's words that they do not take the time to read and then consider their replies. One thing to consider is...a lot of those writing may be little older than in 7th grade, lol. Oh I know, they will blast and flame me over that one, lol, but honestly, you guys all need to look at your names you choose and how you respond. You cannot expect anyone to take you seriously when you ask ridiculous questions. Angelee

I agree yet 7th graders are pretty smart. Some I'd have to say are at Kindergarten level. I've recently asked a question and 90% of the answers were repeating my own words and never answer my question. I see many people (usually non-believers) putting their own personal interpretations into the questions of believers and thus getting it all wrong. Out of context. Just like many people in different Christian churches reading the Bible and misinterpreting it by putting their own words into the holy book.
I've learned quickly that here you can't take much seriously. Plus many are very rude. Quite strange that there is more foul language, racism and rudeness in the Religion catergory compared to the other ones. God helps us all!

I actually think the reading comprehension is high, on average. It's just that people don't choose to respond to the questions very much. People on here, reading questions, caring about the topics, are more impressive than most other Americans, to me.

Lol, in seventh grade, my reading level was 13+. That was the highest the test went.
And I totally understand what you mean. Often people don't really care what the question is though, they just want to say something else.

Reading comprehension level is set on eighth grade level throughout the USA. Or it was at one time.

Seventh grade is generous.
And some of the writing abilities [diction, grammar and spelling] are at a level even lower that that!

I can't top Amber so I won't even try. Seventh grade. You must mean on the American scale. I know 8 year olds that can read better than most Americans.
