It is encoded into our DNA. Some people who have genetic diseases/syndromes have multiple sets of teeth, and extra teeth on top of extra teeth. Others can be missing one or all of their adult dentition. To correct an earlier posting, we are born with only our BABY teeth in place below our gums. Our adult teeth do not begin to form below THEM until we are about 6 months old or so, and those are only the front teeth. Around age 2 years, the adult front teeth and adult first molars begin to take up calcium and phosphates from our bloodstream and would become visible on an X-ray. Around age 6 years the adult teeth (again front teeth and first molars) begin to erupt.

well, your adult teeth, the ones that come in when the baby ones are pulled, are already formed in your mouth when you are born,,,, they grow some, but they are already, both sets, there,,,,,,,,, so im not sure there would be room for another set,, though it would be nice!
