I have never heard this. I have taken caffeine and creatine together and have never noticed any problems.

However, in looking at your question I came across a study about this:
Vandenberghe, K., N. Gillis, M. Van Leemputte, P. Van Hecke, F. Vanstapel, and P. Hespel. (1996). Caffeine counteracts the ergogenic action of muscle creatine loading. Journal of Applied Physiology.

I guess I shouldn't be mixing their use on the same day. Though apparently the issue is only noticed at higher intakes of caffeine during the creatine loading phase.
