My husband will not hint to me about what to give him- ever. We have been married for one year, and dated three years prior to that. He's not materialistic, but I get the feeling that I could be giving him more than home made coupon booklets and fuzzy socks, like I have in the past. He's definitely not into beer or sports teams. We're both runners, but we have all the gear and running accessories we need. I can't come up with any good ideas. Any suggestions?

I do not think he would run with an ipod. He's always liked the sound of nature, but thanks for the suggestions. He also is not a gadget guy in general. He has a nice leather bound bible already, too. I think a cute Santa suit (or lingerie for me to wear for him) is a great idea, but does anyone more gift idea under $100?

Power Tools.
Tickets to the theater.
Artwork for his office at work.
Sexy lingerie in your size. Include a note suggesting you're sure he'll enjoy watching you wear them.
A new game the two of you could enjoy playing together.

Perhaps you could get him a somewhat selfish gift. Try a couples/family annual membership to a nearby museum or art gallery. Or you could get a CityPass and spend a week playing tourist in your nearby large city.

Or maybe he really wants to try another activity. Could you plan an afternoon at a climbing gym? Or ice skating at a local arena? Or cross country skiing at a nearby conservation area? Or a surfing lesson?

Depending on your interests, maybe you could do another home-made coupon, including some new stuff like a date at a Home Depot class.

If you need to get him objects, most guys could use another nice belt. Or a new chair for his home office. A new map book?

There are also lots of charities that let you "adopt" an animal, a family, a tree, a stretch of road, etc.

Does he have a digital camera? Do you have access to the photos that he's taken? If so, you could pick some of your favourite photos and have them made into a wall calender. Most stores that offer photo developing or printing will be able to do it for you. Many places can even do it on-line.

Best of luck!

The best thing I've come up with is gadgets. Little things around the house that are fun. A couple years ago I bought my parents a massage pad. It was only about $40 and has different heads to massage the entire body. You can just lay it on the bed. GREAT way to relax. You can buy them at places like Target, most malls, sharper image.

If he's into new things, take him out to try something new. A museum or movie. Books and music are good. The best things are new experiences you can share together. Since you're athletic maybe rock climbing?

Does he have an IPOD? I'm a couple of years older but love techno gadgets, PDAs, portable DVD players TIVO that kind of stuff. Even a new cell phone. Reading a great gift. Even better is spending time with a loved one, book a week end trip to a destination he loves.

A nice music CD
A book of photographs or paintings -- a coffee-table book
homemade coupons for services that you will do for him (vacuum the car, foot rub, cook him an extra-special meal)
a heartfelt letter expressing your love for him
heart-rate monitor (perhaps you already have this)
motivational book
tickets to a special concert, play, or opera
