So yesterday on the city bus this guy started talking to me and he asked some harmless questions, but because I was so stupid to answer I told him I was a freshman and I was 14, at the time I wasnt thinking oh hes probably a creep but apparantly he is, even after I answered he said I looked pretty fine, I know this isnt a crime but do I have to wait until it happens? Theres no way to avoid him because he waits at the same bus stop. Please help!

As flattering as it is for someone to tell me that im good looking, it creeps me out especially if the guy looks well in his 40s. I know he hasnt done anything bad but since ive been harrased before I rather be safe than sorry.

The best (and safest) step is get an adult male (preferably a police officer) to meet you at the bus stop and identify the guy you mentioned. Get name, address, work, ect and tell him you find his actions harrassing and to stop. This way you put him on notice of his behavior and you have a record of his identity. Since he's probably counting on anonimity he will most likely go somewhere else and harass somebody else. Great question. Lot's of people assume everybody out there is nice (just like you are).

How old is this guy? You should take the bus at a different time. If he continues to harass you, find a cop and have him walk you to the bus stop. That could scare the guy into leaving you alone. You should let somebody know (other than the Yahoo community) that this person makes you uncomfortable.

Alert your family members about the encounter, have someone follow you to the stop and pretend they are not with you,get on the bus normally, and when he decides to approach you, have the family member close by and let them address the creep on your behalf, also, try and sit with a nice older person or near the front of the bus,and stand up front if you have to,it is great that your intuition has warned you about a potential threat to you.Always follow your six sense,no matter how dumb,or punkish you may think it is.

Until what happens? Some guy said you were fine? If you really are, get used to it as you'll be hearing it a lot.

Don't avoid him or hide. When he comes to talk to you again say that you were telling your school teacher about him and since you are only 14 teacher wanted to call the SVU police but you said no, unless he keeps bothering me.

NOthing. Ignore him. Sit somewhere else. Do you have anyone you know on the bus? Sit with them.

Tell him to leave you alone.

He still is probably a harmless creep.

I've known many in my day that tell you stuff like that -makes you feel sick when they do. Best thing to do is ignore them.

The next time he approaches you, kindly tell him that travel time for you is thinking time and you would appreciate it if he would just back off. Try to keep other people between yourself and him and if that doesn't seem to do the trick, speak to someone in charge of the transportation system you take. Friends 06

Is this a public bus? Take an earlier one. If you encounter him again, explain that you would rather not talk. If he does or says something else suggestive, you can get a restraining order.

Avoid him if you can. If he bothers you, just tell him you don't talk to perverts. By the way, see ya at the bus stop.
