I fancy getting involved in a religion, but find Islam and Christianity a bit dull. Would anybody recommend Greek Gods, or maybe ancient Egyption ones (the cats and jackals were really cool). I enjoyed Xena, Warrier Princess, but for different reasons.

You might look into Khemeticism (which is a modern version of worshipping the Gods of ancient Egypt) or any form of Paganism wherein you can choose your own pantheon to work with. Some people end up creating their own unique belief system, which is perfectly okay, too.

Many people do chose religion based merely on emotions. It is a choice and they have the right to it.

However, me personally have not chosen a religion that way. If my time, effort and love is used in something without a real purpose, I feel it would be a waste.

My concearn, therefore, is not me, but what is acceptable to our Creator.

Once I found what that was, my life became geared towards doing his will and in that way purposeful. That is, with a goal and reward.

How I went about ?

I examined what the bible really taught, became convinced that it is inspired by God, then used it as a map directing me to the truth.

lawyer2be is absolutely right,
well on the info ABOUT wicca, only you can decide if it is right for you. The greek's faded into Catholocism, so if your going that way, you will end up in a roman catholic church. Greek empire faded to Roman ( the start of catholocism)
and into the british empire.

Just research on religions, and you can be spiritual without having one particular religion.
Good Luck, blessed be

I'm a Wiccan. You might want to read up a bit on that. It's possible to practice as a solitary, and the goddess and god go by a variety of names. Or just keep reading up on different religions until you find one that makes sense for you.

http://www.beliefnet.com - they have a quiz you can take that will help you determine what religions are most in sync with your current beliefs, and you can go from there.

I think that choosing a religion because you think the gods "look cool" is a really, really, really bad idea. You need to understand the tenets and beliefs and see if you agree with them.

look at all the religious nut jobs vying for your soul! All trying to sell you the particular brand of lunatic delusion that they have bought into. Not one of them has a shred of evidence to support their beliefs. Just 'faith'.

Faith fools, evidence enlightens.

I could not recommend any religion as they are self serving delusions that bring societies into conflict.

To Be Honest i would not Recommend any Religion to You as It has its boundaries and rules to full-fill a god ! You have to be a non-believer to be Yourself...You need no guidance from a Fantasy Figure or force...Be yourself don't get sucked in....!!

Sounds like you are looking for something to fill boredom not to fill a spiritual need. IF you wish to truly serve Jehovah, then I suggest you find a local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
