By your description, it sounds as if you have a USB type connector, and when plugged in, you get a window showing all the files ready to be copied down. (I'm guessing here).
Try opening your MyComputer ICon and see if the Camera is listed as another Drive under DRives With Removable Storage.
Double click the icon and the window should open.

The possible problem is that your computer may recognise you've got your camera attached (via usb) but it's not quite sure what to do with it (so to speak).
If you're using Windows XP, here's a posssible solution.
Start off by plugging your camera in. Then...
1. Click the 'Start' menu button.
2. Go to 'Settings', then 'Control Panel', then 'Administrative Tools'.
3. Click 'Computer Management' under the 'Administrative Tools' menu. A new window should pop up.
4. Click on 'Disk Management'.
5. You should now be able to see the various pieces of storage hardware currently connected to your pc (ie - 1 or 2 hard drives labelled 'C' and 'D' drives respectively, and probably your CD-ROM etc).
6. If you see what should be your camera, under 'Removeable Devices', right click it and assign the camera a new 'Letter'.
I initially had this problem at work (since I take some photos for office use) and fixed it in this manner.
Hopefully this should help. If not, give us another yell!

Whenever I plug in the digital camera to my computer, there's usually an icon in the corner or the screen that indicates there's something connected to the computer. When you click it, it should tell you the drive the pictures are from (I would think E:), and then it'll ask you what you would like to do with the pictures.
But I have Kodak gallery, so I don't neccessarily do it that way. I open my program and click to add photos, then I have to open the drive where the photos are, and select a folder to put it in. I'm not sure what you do or what program you use to put your pictures on, so I can't really help you anymore.

Did you load the camera software? Check the camera battery as well. If you don't have enough juice, it won't let you down load.
If you load the software, plug in the camera, turn it on, and still nothing happens, contact the camera support line.
