Churches, Temples and Mosques are just assembly halls for the faithfulls who do the rituals of serving their God/s. Religious person can do his bidding anywhere at anytime but those assembly halls are for those who can perform the obligations set for the rituals. The sick, the less ambulant, the less healthy and the women suffering from ailments during their monthly periods may do their rituals at home but I do not see the reason why an able person would not go if one claims himself to be practicing his belief. Unless you think you do not have a face or your insecurity is preventing you from being with people. Most people who do not want to go the assembly halls have their own opinion or judgement on others or themselves which may need some learning and/or understanding.

“True religion is real living; living with all one's soul, with all one's goodness and righteousness.” - Albert Einstein
My definition of "religion" is to a set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader (in my case, God).
I can only speak for myself and how I feel about religion and church (haven't been to a temple or mosque, etc.)
...it's not that I think you don't need a church to be religious...
...I think it's that there really isn't a proper "one."
It's nice to be able to come to go to church once in a while... see friends, family, celebrate the holidays, sell Avon products... but I don't really go to church for "religious" purposes.
I luv this question... I just wish I had more time to answer it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is... a church kind of has a different focus:
Henry Louis Mencken defined it nicely, “Church: A place in which gentlemen who have never been to Heaven brag about it to people who will never get there”
...and, as much as I luv the singing and SOME of the social functions. It feels all too hypocritical to me.
“The perfect church service, would be one we were almost unaware of. Our attention would have been on God.” -C.S. Lewis
Besides...
“I do my best thinking by the ocean. As much as I enjoy church service, I've always felt closer to God by the sea.”
Roma Downey
So "yes." I think a person can be "religious," despite the fact that they don't go to church. Religion is something within yourself and what you do... how you choose to live your life and its reflection on others.
Make sense?

Hi pooja. I'm not sure what you mean by 'religious rituals', but attending or not attending a church does not bring a person Salvation. God brings Salvation to His Elect when it is time for that person to become saved. A person shouldn't attend a church because they believe they will find Salvation there.
The Bible teaches that all throughout the church age, tares (unsaved) sat next to wheat (saved) in the pews in Matthew 13:30 we read:
"Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
This tells us that just because a person attends Church, it doesn't assure that person they have Salvation, otherwise all who are there would be saved. Salvation comes to a person when God opens up their eyes, ears, and understanding to the Word. God tells us in Romans 10:17:
"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."

Most people like that don't want to be considered "religious." That word is getting a bad reputation for mindless church brainwashing. Religion is coming to mean remedial tasks (like church every Sunday). If you can scrap the whole thing and can still be close to God, go for it! I'm convinced that some people can get closer to God this way. Whatever works...

Yes if you believe in God and you havent found a church , pray it will happen. People go to church to be around people who believe in God. And that helps when the devil is attacking you. Probley someone has gone through he same thing in there walk and could encourage you. God Bless and Merry Christ mass.

Yes by all means. Who said you need to go to some building to worship or pray to your God. I feel more at peace when I'm out with my dog walking along the river than I ever have in a church.

My Opinion: What's important is your ongoing, daily relationship with God. I don't see how that's dependent on going to a building.
Having said that, I have to tell you, I've found my a good church that's big on community. The Bible is full of stories that scream at us over and over again to live in community, to take care of one another. You can form communities outside of churches, etc… but most people don't.

beign religious is about following whatever belief system you have in your heart. If follow that very devotedly and religiously then, yes, you would be considered "religious"
For the Christian being "religious" would involve church, prayers, reading the bible, telling other about Jesus.
For the Catholic is would involve going to mass, and the confessional, and praying before the candles and following whatever the church tells you to do.
so, whatever you follow in your heart, sure, that makes you religious.

yes, it has to do with belief. What if churches didn't exist? You don't need them to believe in God. And in reverse, you can go to Church every week and not be religious and not even believe in God.

Yes, I remember God, and submit to hit at home, since the mosque is far for me to go to, five times day.
But it would be better reward if I went to the mosque and prayed in congregation.
God knows best.
