I'm fairly certain that major flooding because of the ice caps melting, particularly in Greenland, could cause an ice age. That's because it would put so much fresh water into the North Atlantic Ocean that it would stop the "engine" that causes the Atlantic Current (Gulf Stream). That would cause an ice age.

BTW, that is happening now. I read a study done in UK that found the flow is already diminishing.

Global warming is a much larger problem than most people realize.

definately "something else". even though people talk loud and carry big sticks; there won't be a nuclear war, and if there is, then an GIANT meteor will hit the earth, which will melt the polar ice caps and major flooding will occur; that will plunge the globe into a new age ice age.

Something else. That something else would be terrorists detonating an atomic bomb in a major city, probably New York. Not a sure thing, but most probable in my mind. Within 50 years. They would have done it already if they could, but in the future atomic weapons in the hands of countries like Pakistan, North Korea and Iran will eventually make their way into terrorist hands, somehow. That may cause a limited nuclear war to start, but I think it probably will only result is massive conventional military activity that will make the current Iraq situation look peaceful in comparison. I am glad I probably won't live to see it and sad that my children probably will.
:-(

What ever it is, all the major news channels will be the first with 'Breaking News'.
Seriously though, (just my own conspiracy theory) is that a lot of very rich people are playing around with our minds. Just to keep us on our toes and in fear.
When did you hear of 'Breaking News' that focused on a nurse receiving an achievement in quality nursing?. Or a school raising £500 towards the baby unit in a local hospital?.
They don't grab the headlines, but there just as important as the big stories.

well i think something else is the most likely, cos that could be ANYTHING apart from the four things youve listed above! anyhoo, it doesnt really matter, cos the worlds overpopulated as it is! just kidding. but seriously, people have been thinking the world is coming to an end all through time, literally, people always think the world is going crazy and our evil will destroy ourselves. its possible that something will be threatening to the human race will happen in our lifetimes.. but i think we will live long enough to die of old age.

Something else is quite vague, it could be from a polar bear winning the lottery to someone sneezing in China. In fact it can encompass anything. So definitely something else

meteor has good odds, but the nuclear one is less likely if bush goes in the next election, which also reduces the odds of rapid global warming too.
