I am staying at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in lahaina in January. It is an expensive property to stay at. I have read a bunch of reviews and they are 1/2 and 1/2. Either people love it or think it is a dump. Does anyone have a good evaluation of this property?

We've stayed there a couple of times. It's a great place to stay with plenty of amenities. The grounds are well manicured, the pools are terraced with the upper most level being reserved for adults only, complete with spa and bar. You also have the ability to use the facilities at the two other Starwood properties on Kaanapali beach , and charge the expenses back to your room at the Westin.
It's walking distance to an ABC store not to mention a couple of junk food outlets. Expect to pay for parking of your rental car, with or without valet service.....Have a good time... http://www.westinmaui.com/

Actually, the Westin Maui is in Kaanapali, north of Lahaina, if I'm thinking of the right one. It is a nice hotel, great resort. I loved it. A travel blogger I know is at http://travelandhotels.blogspot.com/ , and they will have a Maui travel post sometime soon.

i've got stayed at a majority of those motels. For a honeymoon, I propose the 4 Seasons. For me, the Ritz is only too "collectively as glove" yet, you could like that form of concern. The FS is luxury collectively as no longer being pretentious. The Hyatt, collectively as a great motel, is to "busy" for a honeymoon. The Fairmont is a huge conventional motel, yet lacks character, in my opinion. The Westin is previous its top. i do no longer propose to communicate ill of the different motels, they're all incredibly great places to stay. yet, returned, my in demand is the 4 Seasons. Congratulations, and Aloha.

While I've personally never been there, I have friends that are pretty picky and they have a timeshare there. They go every year and they love it! If it were a dump I'm sure they would have complained. I wouldn't worry. I'm sure that to the normal person that can afford to stay there it's great. If you're a snob, maybe not. Have a good trip!

This hotel is one of several fine hotels on Kaanapali beach. I would say it's best suited for families but couples are fine also. Some of the rooms are a bit dated, but the location and pool can't be beat.
