The 3 wise men brought gifts to the baby Jesus. We give gifts at CHRISTmas.

The 3 wise men followed the bright star (a special light) to find the baby Jesus. We put up CHRISTmas lights.

What's with the "Christians" that are so against CHRISTmas?

They reject it because of the Pagan traditions that have wound up as being part of Christianity.

I don't see these traditions as harming anything. Christians who celebrate Christmas have not forgotten Jesus.

The "tradition" of giving gifts at the dec. 25th celebration isn't an ancient tradition -- it really didn't start until the 1850's in America. It was never done in Europe anywhere until after then, when they picked up on the American idea.

Why is it that none of the astronomy records (and there were several civilzations closely watching the skies and stars at the time) of that age say anything about a "new star" or anything similar? It's only recorded in *one* gospel, not all of them...and that gospel was written 70-100 years after the fact, by someone who wasn't there. The evidence is good it's completely made up.

"Christmas" is a contraction of "christ's mass," the mass celebrated on Dec. 25th by the catholic church -- and that practice didn't even start until the 1700's. In America, none of the protestant churches celebrated Dec. 25th in any way until the 1800's, and in fact the US continental congress met on every Dec. 25th for 76 years, as they didn't consider it a special day, holiday, or anything else.

The point of all that? IT'S A MADE UP HOLIDAY. Has nothing to do with jesus.
Read some history, you might get a better understanding of what your "beliefs" are based on.
Happy New Year :)

Ok, the Pagans had the religion. They exchanged gifts and had trees and mistletoe and all of that. Then, CHRISTians STOLE the holiday and gave it their own meaning. Jesus was not born anywhere near December 25th.
And also, there are a lot of religions before Christianity that had a baby receiving gifts from wise men.

Many Christians are realizing for the first time that many of our beloved Christmas traditions came from non-Christian religions--the evergreen, mistletoe, holly, etc. Thinking Jesus should be the SOLE aspect celebrated at Christmas, they are pushing away these extra-Christian traditions. Suddenly, Santa Claus is a demon from hell and Rudolph has Satanic red eyes as well as a red nose.

I love Christmas ! I love any excuse to connect with others. I think it has more to do with all the gifts & exploitation that has them up in arms. It's all in perspective, mine is more in the feeling of love & laughter with friends & family [which does take place all through the year] but, is more freely expressed at Christmas. I like the challenge of finding that perfect gift that expresses my feelings for the individual who receives it. Nothing quite feels as wonderful as a beautiful Christmas service on the Eve of Christmas.
I find it sad when people can't enjoy things that make Christmas so special !!!

because all who are against Christmas think we are hypocritical as Christians to celebrate this holiday because it was pagan influenced. They miss our point entirely. Christmas is a holiday to recognize the fact Jesus was given as our Savior. To be thankful to God for all the Grace and wisdom He has given us. To celebrate w/ our friends and family while celebrating the Lord. All things can be God centered. Every aspect of life should be dedicated to the Lord. Is Christmas Jesus birthday? I do not know nor does anyone else. Does this matter? Not to me. I feel people lose the complete point of God, Jesus, the bible. The good Lord gives us all we have. Lets remember His gift on this day and all days. God Bless your heart and soul.

It is a VERY unchristian celebration.
Jesus was not born in December.
The "3 wise men" were not necessarily just 3 and they were astrologers who followed a star to Herod. Why would Jehovah choose to send 3 astrologers to King Herod?? It was not something originating from God but rather Satan.

Religion doesn't belong in many of the places it is present in America. The celebration this winter solstice was not originally about Jesus...he wasn't born in December. If being true to the roots is important to you, you are the one who should re-think your holiday celebrations. Christianity adopted an existing Pagan holiday as JC's birthday.

Because Christians have the amazing ability to whine about anything at the drop of a hat, it was only a matter of time before they started gnawing at their own intestines...

More puzzling to me is the "Jews for Jesus" people...

I'm not aware of......oh, Jehovah's Witnesses. Okay, they don't see anything in the bible that says to celebrate Christmas. They are trying to live by God's words as much as possible, so they are against Christmas.

Best wishes.
