Of course you can consider major events to fit somewhere in the bible as a prophesized prediction, I could do the same thing with any lengthy book of tales that was written before the event took place.

Have you ever considered that the bible is not the ONLY book that was written before a major event that might also contain a passage or story that could be translated to a direct connection to the prediction?

Ministers, preachers, whoever you go to for your church events are of course going to interwine the bible to be directly coordinated to any major event, it's their job to look for these things. They have all the time in the world to sit down, take out some passages, take out some current events and weave them together as a 'prophecy foretold in the bible'.

Are they ever 'word for word' correct? Absolutely not, could the passages be interputated another way if you weren't biased to only believe a certain way? Absolutely, why are so many in denial of this? Fear?

This is a rhetorical question, right?

I'm guessing that you haven't actually read the Bible. It's main point isn't prophecy.

A prophet wasn't necessarily someone that foretold the future.

The part of the Old Testament that gives future prophecy overwhelmingly pointed toward Jesus. He fulfilled almost every future prediction of a Messiah. The only other prophesy that the Bible concerns itself with, unless I've missed some, was concerning the end of the world and the return of Jesus.

The Bible is more concerned with God interacting with people. It's full of stories (situations) that happened and continue to happen in our lives every day.

I didn't really read your question, to be honest. It was too much of a dissertation. But I get the jist of it. I'm pretty much an agnostic, but here's my answer:

It's called faith. It's believing in something that isn't conclusive. It's the whole point of God...trusting what isn't. I have a lot of respect for people who have faith. I'm an agnostic because I'm a show me the money kinda gal. But for others...they believe.

You seem to be just as fearful as those that you describe in your question/thingy? Why so neurotic about it? Let people believe what they like and you do the same.

When Jesus said "my sheep hear my voice" He was telling the truth.
