What is it about the seasons that bring some memories flying back into your head? For example, when fall rolled in, it brought back some deep seeded feelings I had for someone some time back. It depressed me and left me feeling sad, angry and alone.
And, back in Spring - a certain breeze always brings back memories of days I had with someone really special and it also hurts me.
When it rains, it brings back memories of my childhood.
I find this odd, because at those times, I never paid attention to the weather. I never paid attention to how hot or cold it was.
My question is, why is it that certain things that happen - certain weather or even certain places bring back memories that can either make you feel happy.. or break your heart all over again.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had stuff like that happen before where someone made a certain comment that reminded me of some conversation that I had with someone else, the certain smell of colognes makes me think of two people from my past (the Armani smell brings back the memory of an ex I wish to forget and another cologne makes me think of someone who I let get away), amongst other things. I think that whether or not we realize it at the time, we associate certain time periods, people, memories, etc with certain things whether it be the weather, seasons, scents, etc. especially when those things are worth remembering in the first place.
Your not the only person who experiences things like this and it is completely normal and I think great. Like I said whenever I smell the cologne of that one guy who 'got away', it makes my heart race the same way it did when I first fell for him so they all aren't entirely bad:)
Take care:)

I know exactly what you are talking about. Its like the weather brings Pain and Pain brings grief upon yourself and leaves the ones you care about looking at you like your crazy or the black sheep. I've never really paid any attention to it until you brought it to my attention with your question. I'm going through that exact same thing as i'm answering your question. I think that the reason why this happens is because we can't let go of the situation or the memory of whatever it was that happen. It's like listening to music When you hear a song that you can really relate to then you act a certain way. If someone heard a song about cheating and they are doing the same thing then they try to change the song as quick as possible and I look at the emotional connection with the weather the same way. Whatever it was that happened to us all at that moment is a powerful memory and our subconiscence doesn't want to let go for growing sake. For example when winter comes and the tempature drops really low some of us get depressed and want to breakdown because of deaths in the family or friends. Its like you don't feel alive and you can feel those people around you. I really think that its a learning experience for our brains and heart. Once we've learned how to let go of the memory we all could be better at it. I hope this explains something and Good Luck in your quest for this answer.

Yes and I think it is a good thing you can reflect on the past memories you loved and also as bad as it hurts to bring up bad memories those situations help you grow into the person you are today!!!

scientist say more memories come back to use from the sense of smell than from site
so what you just described here were several things that you used your sense of smell to trigger those memories.
it happens tome all the time
some times I like it some times I do not
but that's what is happening
good luck

It is human nature, we are the only animals that have a memory's as wonderful as ours.....we are able to punish ourselves with our memories or we can bring back the days of our brightest moments. The mind is a amasing thing........

every time summer rolls around i think of the time when i knew that I loved my exboyfriend ( we were skinny dipping in a lake in the dead of summer)...every aspect of life will remind you of something... the question is how to supress the bad memories.

memory (in the brain) is most closly linked to smell, then next is touch... that's how it is in the brain... so certain smells (mostly) will often trigger certain memory's, or even feelings (from those memories)...
