yes, it's just like using a stoneware baking dish in the oven, we used to do this all the time with an old crockpot insert that had a broken heating element, made a perfect stoneware pot for the oven

Although it is made to resist heating using it in a conventional oven may cause it to explode...read the instructions carefully it should tell you whether or not it is suitable for that. I doubt it tho unless it is of a steel make...most however are "crockery".

While I have not done that, my best bet is yes you can do that as it should be heat proof enough to withstand the oven temperatures.

I would assume you could mine is like a porcelin or something though I do not know for certain it sounds like you could
