I'm not sure about California laws, but here if your parent is with you to consent, they don't mind. It probably also depends on the tattooist. But DON'T go to a cheap tattoo artist just so you can get an underage tattoo. It would be better to just wait until you are 18. Make sure you have thought alot about the tattoo you want and pic a salon with a good reputation. Tattoos are for life.

You said you want to go to a "good" place, and I can almost guarantee that no decent tattoo shop allows a minor to get tattooed without parental consent. Only 10 days under or not, you're still 17. Try asking your mom to come with you and sign for it.

They're not gonna tattoo a juvenile, which - in their eyes - is unfortunately what you will be for the next 10 days. It so sucks, but that's the law.
Why don't you just take your mom or another adult over 21 with you. They can probably leave once the tat starts....

If your mom is with you it won't matter, they wouldn't let my daughter get her ears peirce by her self, so she had a friends mom. say she was her mom. and they did it, So if your moms going out of town, have her sign a note. and have a friends mom go with you, and whala tattoo is put on. Good Luck. What kind of tattoo? My son has lot's. There on forever, So make sure you put on something you really want, cause its kinda hard to get off once it's on. And Happy 18th Birthday. I wish I was there again. You Have a GREAT Birthday!

Don't rush! And don't go anywhere that will tattoo you underage, if they are that desperate for money that they don't care about the legal stuff, then they are NOT the place you want to go!
Skip the super touristy places (ie Hollywood Blvd) and look at the portfolios first, make sure there is seperate sterilization area and that you see everything come out of autoclaved packaging.
and please, please! Don't rush! You'll have it forever, waiting a few more weeks is just a-ok!

a reputable place will not give you a tattoo under the age of 18, because you're not old enough to enter under contract yet and could sue them. most places have a waiver that a minors parents can sign and they'll do one though. would your mother sign for you?

Yes they will mind. It might only be 10 days to you, but it could mean their job and career. Just wait for your mom or for your birthday.

if they are the type of studio that would tattoo you underage, they are not the type of studio that you want to go to.
wait 10 days, and go and get one legeally, at a reputable studio that you've visited at least once. ask to see the artist's portfolio.
