They use peer pressure in the sales pitch. Peer pressure gets the believers. Then they are afraid to leave the church once they have become involved because they will be isolated from their social circle.

This is for DUST - I just read the book of Enoch for myself - and it did not take long to see that it does not agree with the Bible. You can find a copy online and read for yourself. It does not take long. As for a few other things you ask - like the "face" in Mars, again go out online. I read a very good explanation by space scientists themselves. Now to answer the question - Two things - 1) God's name Jehovah being in capital letters in my King James Bible 2) the explanation of 144,000 - it was so clear that the kingdom became REAL to me. Those were just the first two starting at the age of five - and so many more truths followed. Why did I stay the course? If you have found the truth of a matter, why go look for something else? Or why look for another "truth"? Does that mean that my mind was closed, and I did not continue to examine? No. But actually that extra checking made me even MORE SURE that what I had was the ROCK SOLID TRUTH. There is hardly a day when I do not find something new or learn something new about the Bible, whether that is in the area of geography, archaelogy, history, prophecy, even doctrine. I am going on 65, and I value every day to see what there is new to find out. "Show me how to count my days...."- Psalm 90:12

They aren't attracted to it, but are becoming increasing repulsed by the teachings of Christendom, and JWs is the only thing left that still follows the original teachings of the first congregations. You don't convert to being a witness, you revert, as in going back to the old.
There is a lot to being a JW, and I'm disfellowshipped from it by the Corning, CA Congregation in 1982. I don't really care for being around large crowds, and I rather like women, a lot, though at my age, I haven't seen a live (in person) naked woman in years.
With the witnesses, there is no waiting to the holidays to get together with other members of the church, let alone ones from another congregation, in the city, county, or state. They have parties, a lot, though not drunken affairs as you find in Christendom. It's usually a come all and bring food affairs.
Everyone is taught the same, men, women, and children. Every baptized witness is a legal minister, which can be a problem when one is sick and ends up in ICU at a hospital. Only family members and a minister is allowed to visit someone in ICU. Some times the membership have to be reminded not to use their credentials to get in.

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, what attracts me is it's the only religion that teaches the bibles earthly hope and the hope of a world without crime, hatred, prejudice, even the animals will be at peace with one another. Hope for the dead. (This is all in everyone's bible)
They try very hard to live their lives as Jesus instructed his followers. Of course, we all make mistakes all the time.
Jehovah's Witnesses have a true brotherhood without the prejudice due to race or country. I know that I can go anywhere in the world and I have a brother or sister who feels the same about me and has the same hope for the future that I do. I have experienced this first hand while traveling. This is one of the reasons they will not go to war. How can they kill one of their brothers from another country?
Being a Jehovah's Witness is not a religion, but a way of life.
I don't think most are attracted because we don't celebrate holidays, because that is something that is hard for many to give up.

There are as many reasons why people are attracted to religious organizations as there are people. My particular fascination with Jehovah's Witnesses was the encouragement of a PERSONAL study of the Bible, not just taking someone's word for what it says. Although, I am not currently associated with the organization, I do still know some of the "Witnesses." And, it is my opinion that they are just trying their best, like others, to meet certain standards of personal well being and sharing what works for them with others.
You also asked if people just like the way they act and not necessarily their beliefs. Personally, I am attracted to people who ACT IN HARMONY with what they believe. I tend to shy away from people who say one thing and do another. I do not judge the right or wrong of another's path, as it is my belief that we are all children of the Universe trying to do our best in this world with what we've been given.

Because Jesus said you would recognize his followers because their fruits.
Matt 7:20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.
John 13:35 By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”
So Terry's comment was accurate.
Jehovah's Witnesses live the faith and the truth of the bible,
Even our opposers recognize this.
Who according to Jesus is doing the will of The Father? Most of Christendom don't accept God's name, let alone do His Will.
As to paying Caesar’s things to Caesar, the rest of the verse is to Pay back God's things to God.
I paid my taxes, therefore I'm entitled to receive the benefits of those taxes.
Rev. 19 says that Jesus is going to destroy all the armies of the earth.
vs:18 that YOU may eat the fleshy parts of kings and the fleshy parts of military commanders and the fleshy parts of strong men and the fleshy parts of horses and of those seated upon them, and the fleshy parts of all, of freemen as well as of slaves and of small ones and great.”
19 And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage the war with the one seated on the horse and with his army.
Being one of Jehovah's Witnesses is the greatest privilege a person can have.
The real question is why would anyone not want to be a Witness?

For section hand -
# 1 No Eternal Hell
This is a Catholic teaching not a bible teaching. Jesus died, went to the grave (hell) and was resurrected.
#2 Jesus Christ to them a Created Man
Jesus was first created by god and the two of them created everything else. He was not created a man.
# 3 Will not Join Military
One of commandments is not to kill. In every war innocent people are killed in cross fire. JWs do not have their hands stained in blood. Can you say that about any other group of people?
#4 Will not salute the U.S. Flag
This one is correct, JWs will not salute the flag giving a man made government presidents over Jesus kingdom (government).
Note: Jws do honor the flag but they won’t salute it. One example was a group of children were pulled into the principle’s office and asked to spit on an American flag. All the children compiled but a JW girl did not. Reason? Cause she was taught to respect it.
#5 They will take Social Security-But will not render to Ceaser.
JWs pays taxes like everyone else, it was a order from god himself.
# 6 They Believe that they are the 144,000 in Rev.Chap 7.
JWs are not the 144,000. The scriptures state that people from every country will be apart of the 144,000 and the rest will inherit the earth.
Please do at least a little bit of research before posting answers about a subject that you don’t seem to know about.
side note: I cant say JWs can be considered a/the true religion since the book of ezekiel warns of false prophets and JWs are well known for prophesizing the time of the end and getting it wrong, which the bible specifically says only God will know the time and place it will occur. But they seem awfully close to follow the rest of the scriptures to the letter.

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses so I can say that for me it was
an in depth study of the bible.
.
However this is not necessarily the easy road; It is what Jesus described as narrow and cramped, he also said his true followers would be hated by the world because they would be no part of it.
We recognize that only God's Kingdom can bring about true peace to the whole world; no man-made government can do this, even though they would try to; this was prophesied, so we know all their attempts will be in vain.
I can only encourage you to look into for yourself, we don't convert people; we study the bible w/them, encourage them to ask questions and do their own research. The decision is one that they make.
Okay, I just clicked on to the sight you provided, it is what I call a slander sight. Its agenda is to spread hate and LIES.
Hitler did this very thing; spreading hate and propaganda. That is no way to learn about our beliefs.

I studied with Witnesses for about a year and they are such kind and wonderful people. I was having some health problems at the time and they were always there when I needed them. I ofen went to their meetings and I enjoyed learning about their beliefs. They were very patient with my differing ideas and never judged me for that. I continued to go to the meetings though I didn't agree with all of their doctrines because it was still very educational for me. They live good, modest and honest lives.
One of the things I liked the most was finally finding people who didn't celebrate the holidays. I have never believed much in Christmas and it was a relief to find others who understood.

Action speaks louder than words, goes the cliche.
For Terry g and I, we have seen the application of the Bible's counsel in the lives of Jehovah's witnesses.--- “Faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself.” (James 2:17)
I am a Filipino living in Austria, i might be considered "ausländer" to the Austrian community. I get cold treatments, even my kids from them, like when my kids laugh while inside the bus, they told them to keep quiet, or when my son opens a fridge in the grocery for 3 seconds, they told him he shouldn't when there is an adult opening it for more than 10 seconds without really getting anything out.
but you know what, everytime I say hello to the older women giving out Watchtower magazines by the train stations, they talk
to me and ask me about my kids, how we are and our concerns...
it is the same with africans, japanese, romanians, yugoslavians or any other nationality during district conventions and other gatherings ....i guess that's what you call brotherly love...you look past beyond the color, language, characteristic of a person and because you are all sons of Jehovah and to him you are equal.
I have always believed the bible as a child, the book of Revelation is one that I had always wanted to understand....because of my studying with JWs I now know the promise that it has given not only me but all of us...and it isnt to be afraid of but to look forward to.

Why don't you try talking to a Jehovah's Witness and find out about what they actually believe instead of asking people who are not Witnesses. Im sure that is a lot more to their religion besides not celebrating holidays.
